The MA “Luxury and Haute Couture” is aimed at students or young professionals who wish to set up as a freelance couturier/pattern maker/stylist.

 

It also concerns anyone who wishes to specialize in evening wear, ceremony or bridal fashion.

 

It has a duration of one year.

The curriculum revolves around bridal fashion and high endevening wear;

 

Admission to this study program is through an individual interview.

It represents the 3rd year of the DS.

 

It is not open to beginners.

Tuesday from 10am to 5pm

 

Each student, at the beginning of the year, defines his project ;

This may include:

  • either a wedding project (e.g. a wedding dress, an evening dress, a cocktail dress, a children’s dress),

 

  • either an evening project (1 or 2 evening dresses),

 

  • or a ceremony project (a cocktail dress or a ceremony suit, a fancy dress etc.)

 

This project will be carried out by the student during the school year.

In CREATION class, the teacher uses several tools to help the student find his inspiration: define a moodboard, search for subjects, search for silhouettes according to the lines of inspiration selected,

He also support the student for presentation of the creative dimension of the student proposals (physical and digital book) as well as the technical one (preparation of the technical specialisation ).

COUTURE: Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The COUTURE course accompanies students in the assembly of their models.

It revolves around:

  • Imposed projects such as the tailored jacket: here the model and the fabric are imposed and the student learns to assembly a tailored jacket from A to Z.
  • Personnal projects (1 or 2) from the full imagination of the student online with its annual projetc.

 

 

  • Mixed projects A Bespoke project: there the student work on a imposed project but at another student ‘s own measurements. There eahc pattern is developed to the measurements of a person and the model is also done in real fabric bespoke;

Thus, the student experiences tailor-made work (taking measurements, making a pattern according to specific measurements, fitting canvases and rectifications and learning own to conduct a fittings in real fabric.

 

  • Technical pieces: these are exercises on Haute Couture finishes applied to the use of specific fabrics such as (lace, embroidered tulle, Chinese crepe, organza …)

PATRONAGE AND DRAPING

In the patronage and draping class, the student deepens its theoretical knowledge of jacket tailoring but also wedding/bridal and evening dress: bustier, sheath skirt, XXL skirt etc

The rest of the year, the student realizes the pattern and fitting canvases of his projects

He also carries out other model studies (exercise which consists in developing a pattern on the basis of an image given by the teacher).

The objective of the course is to allow the student to be autonomous in the development of his patterns.

 

For each model part of his annual project, the student makes a technical or flat drawing, a complete technical sheet, a fitting canvas and a fabric prototype.

Remarks

  • The school does not accept cheques. Tuition fees must be paid to the school’s bank account. For international transfers, bank charges are the responsibility of the client
  • The tuition fees remain as announced at the time of registration during the full program (except for repeaters of 1st year if the price were to increase) unless inflation were to exceed 5% annually in which case these fees would be indexed.
  • As the number of students admitted to enrolment each year is limited, full tuition fees are due even in the event of abandonment or exclusion from classes.
